An Outdated POS System Can’t Keep Pace With Business Growth
As the owner of Shapiro’s, a beloved Jewish deli in Indianapolis, Sally was running both the restaurant and high-volume catering business on a legacy POS system that was no longer able to keep up with the needs of her growing business.
From old, obsolete hardware to operational deficiencies, Sally knew it was time to find a more robust solution; she was looking for an all-in-one solution that could handle both in-house service and large-scale catering, support scanning and weighing deli meats, and manage invoicing and payment workflows.

SOLUTION
Saving Time and Frustration with Back of House Research
Tired of trying (and failing) to do her own research with such a full schedule, Sally connected with Back of House expert Rachel Morgan. After an initial Discovery Call for Rachel to better understand the deli and catering business operational needs, Sally tasked Rachel with helping her find the right POS solution for her growing business.
“Sally knew that her current system wasn’t working, but having been out of the POS research market for over ten years, she wanted to understand what to look for in new cloud systems,” said Rachel. “After gathering all of her business requirements, I was able to get back to her pretty quickly with options that could be a good fit for her business’ needs.”
Rachel’s research turned up several options for Sally to consider, including Toast, SpotOn, and Square POS systems. Each system had the capability to handle high-volume transactions, catering invoicing, and the specialized functionality needed for weighing and scanning products.
OUTCOME
A New POS To Support A New Era of Success
Rachel worked with the vendors to arrange demos for Sally, allowing her to dive deeper into each option in order to determine which solution would help her continue to grow her business. Ultimately, she chose Toast, since it has everything she needs all under one easy-to-use platform with room for future growth.
“For Sally it wasn’t about adding another tool, but finding a partner as she grows,” said Rachel. “We knew the right fit would be a provider who understands restaurants and evolves with them over time.”
